Dialog for ‘History’ (Directories and Files)

If you want to see the different states a directory or file has passed through, open its context menu and select Show History

Open the dialog:

  • By selecting Edit Revisions / Show History in the context menu of a document or directory

For each revision, you will see the date on which the revision was created, the processing state (if any), the staff member who made the revision, the name of the element, and its stereotype.

Additional options are available in the context menu of each revision.

View (only for files) This opens a file in its default program.

Get When this command is executed from a file’s context menu, the Get File dialog opens. Alternatively, when this command is executed from a directory’s context menu, the Get Directory Revision opens.

Show (only for directories) This opens the Show Directory dialog. You cannot make any changes in this dialog, instead you can only view the selected directory’s properties.

Properties (for files only) This opens the Show Properties dialog. You cannot make any changes in this dialog, instead you can only view the selected file’s properties.

Restore This restores an element to the state from which this command has been executed.

Export This exports an element as an sxmi file.

Note
Exported files contain information concerning the date and time of a revision in the file name.
E.g: If you export a revision from 01/31/2019 at 02:56 PM, the file is saved as follows: Gantt chart.pdf(20190131025604).sxmi.

Compare Documents (Version 7.3 and Later)

With this command, you can compare two versions of a Word document directly in MS Word. This command is available if you have already selected Show History for a Word document.

Compare Select two entries and click Compare if you want to compare different revision histories with each other. If you select only one revision and click Compare, the current state of element is compared with the selected revision.
