Create recursive queries
For some relationships and element types, you can set a recursion for hierarchical queries. You use this if, for example, you want to see not only the direct derivations for requirements, but also their derivations for the derivations.
Left: The query has been configured to display the derivatives of a requirement. Right: This query is configured to display derivatives recursively.
Enable recursion
- Open a hierarchical query using the Edit context menu command and click the Edit button under Element Hierarchy.
- Move the mouse over the individual elements and relationships and click on the Toggle recursion button to activate recursion.
If a recursion has been activated, a number appears behind the button indicating the level at which the main element is located. The main element is highlighted when you click on the number.
![]()
The button remains visible in the dialog and the expand arrow is removed.
Disable recursion
Click the button again to disable recursion.
