Create, edit and delete organizations
An organization is used to structure and unite one or more projects. If required, an organization can be divided into further organizational units, which in turn can contain projects. For example, you can divide your organizations into
- thematic areas such as marketing, development
- Local divisions such as Germany, Asia, America
You can save organizational as templates for reuse in other organizations.
Create organizations
You create a new organization or an organization template via the context-specific menu or within an organization.
Create an organization the context-specific menu
- Open the context-specific menu from the Userboard and select Create → New Organization.
- In the Create Organization dialog, first enter a name and a short code.
- Under Create in, select the organization under which the new organization is to be created and made subordinate.
- Next, select a template on the Organization templates tab. If you have exported an organization to use as a template, switch to the File tab and select the exported file.
- Click Create.
The organization appears as a tile on the userboard.
Create organizations in an organization
When you open the organization window within an organization, you can also create a new organization using the context menu.
- Open the Explorer window within an organization.
- Click in the background of the Explorer window and select Create → Organization from the context menu.
A dialog opens that offers the same options as in the method described above.
Open organizations
Click an organization tile (red) on the userboard to open the organization.
Edit organization`s properties
Properties include, for example, the name, the abbreviation, or the description, which are specified when the organization is created or generated automatically. The following properties can be changed later:
- Name – specified when the organization is created
- Short identifier – specified when the organization is created
- Region – can be assigned later (optional)
- Description – automatically taken from the template
- Delete organization – set automatically
- Font and font size – set automatically
If you want to change these later:
- Open the organization whose properties you want to change.
- Go to the context-specific menu and select Organization → Properties.
- Make the changes and save by clicking OK.
Delete organization
Organizations can only be deleted by users with administrative privileges. This includes the database administrator and the organization administrator.
The top-level organization cannot be deleted. Additionally, you can only delete organizations that do not contain any projects.
Remove Delete Protection
- Open the organization you want to delete.
- Go to the context-specific menu and open the Properties dialog by clicking Organization → Properties.
- Switch to the Settings tab and check the option Allow deletion of the organizational unit.
- Open the organization you want to delete from the Userboard by clicking the red tile.
- Use the Userboard to open the organization you want to delete by clicking on the red tile.
- In the context-specific menu, click Settings → Delete.
You will receive a confirmation if the organization was successfully deleted.
