Indicator “Cost performance”

The Cost performance (Cost Performance Index, short: CPI) indicator shows you whether the project or activity is still on schedule with regard to the planned effort or whether you need to adjust to higher expenses. You can also display the cost efficiency using the Performance chart.

Calculation formula

Cost performance = Earned value/ actual effort

This results in a value that you interpret as follows:

CPI = 1 The expenses incurred are the same as the planned expenses.
CPI > 1 You have planned less effort to process the requirements.
CPI < 1 You have put more effort into processing the requirements than planned.

You create the indicator in the dashboard

  • within a group by clicking on the plus button, selecting Create new indicator and selecting Cost performance in the subsequent dialog under Indicator type.
