Indicator “Earned Value”

The indicator Earned Value (Earned Value, short: EV) indicator shows how much of the activity – starting from the planned expenditure to the current point in time – has actually been implemented. The earned value depends on the calculation type set.

You can plan activities “Classic, progress from percentage completed “, in which the earned value of the activity is calculated using a fixed percentage. To calculate the progress, you have four options that you must specify for each activity.

If you have set the calculation “Agile, progress from completed requirements” for activities, the efforts of the completed requirements are totaled. The completion value is specified in person days.

You create the indicator in the dashboard

  • within a group by clicking on the plus button, selecting Create new indicator and selecting Earned value in the subsequent dialog under Indicator type.
Calculation formula for classic activities
Activities:  Earned value = Planned activity effort * PercentageCompleted
Activities with partial activities:  Earned value = Sum of the completion values of the subactivities
Calculation formula for agile activities
Activities:  Earned value= Sum of the requirement efforts of completed requirements
Activities with partial activities:  Earned value = Sum of the completion values of the subactivities
